Halifax woman dies in Weldon crash

A 76-year-old Halifax woman died in a two-vehicle collision near Weldon High School Wednesday night.

Roanoke Rapids police are investigating a shooting which occurred around 10:45 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of Monroe Street.

Moody gets 6-year federal sentence

Sterling Moody has been sentenced to six years in federal prison, the United States Attorney's Office said in a statement.

Two people were arrested this week on warrants stemming from an undercover narcotics operation spanning several months.

The third man wanted in a Colonial Heights, Virginia, child abduction was arrested Tuesday night, according to the Roanoke Rapids Police Department.

Roanoke Rapids City Council this evening recognized several employee milestones and achievements at its regular meeting.
