The occupant of a vehicle Wednesday night sustained a gunshot wound to the leg during a shooting which remains under investigation by the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.

Captain Scott Hall said initial reports indicate that two vehicles were traveling on Drapers Road and the occupants were shooting between the two.

Whether the occupants were shooting at each other remains under investigation, Hall said. A 37-year-old male in one of the vehicles was struck in the leg and is in stable condition.

The sheriff’s office received a report of a person shot in the Drapers Road area near the intersection of Heathsville Road around 11:45 p.m.

Deputies found the victim in a vehicle. He was transported by Halifax County EMS to a hospital and was treated.
