Governor Pat McCrory has signed a proclamation offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information which leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for an August 17, 2014, shooting and murder.

The home invasion which claimed the life of Julius Lee Brinson occurred in the Enfield area on Verna Lane close to Heathsville Road, the Halifax County Sheriff's Office reported at the time.

Calvin Earl McGee and Amory Lee Scott were shot in the home invasion.

Halifax County Sheriff Wes Tripp said he received notice the reward was approved today after applying for it within the last 90 days.

At the time the sheriff's office reported there was a person of interest in the case, but that lead did not pan out.

“We would like to have information to make an arrest,” Tripp said. “The reward from the governor's office is definitely a plus. All information will remain anonymous.”
The sheriff's office reported at the time it received a report of a burglary where four unidentified males forcefully entered the residence of McGee, 47 at the time, in an attempt to rob him.

The four males were all reportedly armed and began beating McGee and his guests, Scott, 53 at the time, and Brinson, age 60, while searching the residence for valuables.

McGee and Scott were shot and injured while Brinson was shot and killed at the scene.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the sheriff's office at 252-583-8201.
