Roanoke Rapids police Chief Chuck Hasty said Keyshun Diarell Boswell, 19, and Jacques Jarmine Jefferson, 26, both of Roanoke Rapids, also face charges of discharging a weapon into occupied property.

Investigator Gorton Williams, who obtained warrants on the pair, said the attempted murder charge reflects someone was in the house at the time of the shooting.

He declined to discuss motive in the case.

Both men, he said, frequent the downtown areas of the city as well as the Weldon area. They are consider armed and dangerous.

Both men have past criminal records and Jefferson is scheduled to appear in court on July 15 and 27 on driving charges as well as a count of armed robbery. Boswell has other outstanding warrants which weren't immediately posted to the state court system's website.

Police responded to the call at approximately 10:45 p.m. Wednesday.

The victim told officers while lying in the bed they heard shots and saw debris flying around the room.

Hasty said in the statement the pair are encouraged to surrender.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call Williams at 252-533-2821 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
