Coles faces federal weapons counts

A Roanoke Rapids man, who in 2010 assaulted two women at an avenue business, now faces federal weapons charges, according to court records.

Michael Rakim Belfield was ordered today to temporary detention in the custody of United States Marshals until a formal hearing Thursday.

Indicted federally earlier this week, a Roanoke Rapids man stands the chance of facing more charges lodged by the United States government after drugs were found in his possession today.

Lann Clanton will be held in federal custody until his sentencing hearing after a judge revoked the conditions of his release today.

The trial of the only defendant to plead not guilty in the Operation Rockfish police corruption case has now been continued until February, documents in filed in the federal court system show.

New documents in the Operation Rockfish police corruption case say a million dollars worth of heroin was at issue and the purported drugs were loaded into vehicles containing secret compartments.
