Sally Ray Draper Warren, age 85, of Roanoke Rapids, died Sunday, June 4, 2023. 

Born on June 5, 1937 in Weldon, she was the daughter of the late George Whitley Draper and Louise Millikin Draper. She was preceded in death by her first husband, David Crockett Clark, Jr and daughter, Lillian Clark Hill.

Sally Ray is survived by her husband of 32 years, George Clifton (G.C.) Warren, Jr, his daughter, Laura Ann McWhorter, son-in-law, Dan McWhorter and grandsons, Carter and Warren McWhorter; her sister, Peggy Coker, brother-in-law, Jimmy Coker, and brother, Johnny Draper and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sally Ray was a devoted daughter, mother and wife who lovingly cared for family and friends. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Roanoke Rapids where she was an organist and choir member for many years. Also, she was an organist at the Weldon Baptist Church, Colonial Manor restaurant and for many weddings. Her love of music started at an early age with playing the piano by ear and she furthered her music skills with Louise Farber and while attending East Carolina University. Sally Ray had a passion for gardening, floral arranging and sharing hydrangea blooms with others.

A funeral service to celebrate Sally Ray’s life will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at 1:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church, 16 East Fifth Street, Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870 with The Reverend Dr. Joe Sandoval officiating. 

A burial at Cedarwood Cemetery will follow the service with a visitation afterwards at the church Loy Memorial Building.

The family expresses their appreciation for those who cared for Sally Ray at her home and at the Landings of Lake Gaston.
