A Roanoke Rapids man remains in the Halifax County Detention Center without the opportunity for bond on charges of violating a domestic violence protective order by allegedly threatening the victim by phone and sending obscene photos.

Warrants filed against Robert Guy Hester Jr., 28, allege that he threatened physical violence against the victim and threatened to kill the victim’s family members in voicemails.

A warrant also alleges he sent a nude photo of the victim to another person, as well as a photo of a minor posed in a sexually provocative manner.

Major Anzell Harris of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a residence in Roanoke Rapids Monday after receiving a report about obscene photos being sent.

Detectives C. Watkins and R. Elder interviewed the victim and learned there was an active DVPO in place.

Evidence was provided to the detectives that supported the claims of harassing phone calls, violations of the DVPO, and obscene photographs being sent by Hester.

Deputies located Hester Tuesday and served him with warrants charging him with felony dissemination of obscenity, second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, communicating threats, DVPO violation, and harassing phone calls.

He has a May 27 district court date.
