Mark Ashley Short, 58 of Seaboard, NC went to his heavenly home on Saturday, June 3, 2023.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Eugene Short and mother, Rebecca Lorene Reid Short.

Mark is survived by his wife of 25 years, Patricia (Patty) Davis Short; son, Wyatt Short, daughter, Cameron Short Prince and husband Brandon; brother, Scott Short and wife, Kim; sisters and brothers-in-law, Peggy Harris, Edward and Nancy Davis, Ann and Tommy Carter, John Davis; nieces and nephews, Christopher Short, Ashleigh Short, Aaron Davis and wife, Stephanie, Laura Davis and fiancé, Kendal McDuffie, Patrick Davis and wife, Katie, Sean Kelly and wife, Brittany; grandson, Tillman Prince and several great nieces and nephews.

Mark graduated from NC State University with a degree in Material Science Engineering. 

Mark was a brilliant engineer with multiple patents through Dupont Corporation where he was employed for 17 years. 

He was employed at Glover Construction for the last 15 years at which he dearly loved his job and coworkers. 

Mark loved God and was a member of Elam Baptist Church in Gumberry, NC where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and choir member. 

Mark loved hunting, fishing, golf, racing of all types, music, including playing the guitar and banjo and spending time with his family, especially his son. 

Mark was a beloved husband, father, uncle, church member, coworker and was taken from us all too soon. Please keep us all in your thoughts and prayers.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023 at Elam Baptist Church at 11:00 AM with Rev. Bill Payne officiating.

Interment will follow in the Seaboard Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Askew Funeral Service- Jackson Chapel from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
