The first two tourism Industry professionals have completed their Customer Service Program tutorial, the Halifax County Convention and Visitors Bureau said. 

They are Robin Shearin, director of sales at Hilton Garden Inn, and Shawn Taylor, manager of Holiday Inn Express.

Shearin has been at Hilton Garden Inn for six years and has been in the hospitality industry for over 20 years.

“I  didn’t know we had this many wedding venues and didn’t know about the informative website www.visitnc.com,” she said upon completion of the program.

Taylor has been working at Holiday Inn-Express for over five years.

Taylor said he “learned about all of the venues in the county and more information on a couple of our attractions.”

“The Halifax County Customer Service Program is designed specifically to support the dedicated individuals who drive our local service industry,” HCVB President and CEO Lori Medlin said. “We estimate that over 1,000 people are employed directly and indirectly in the tourism industry. This is a go-to resource for enhancing skills, staying informed, and excelling in the industry.”
