A woman with pending dates in both district and superior courts was charged this morning following an approximately mile chase that ended in the parking lot of a Becker Drive apartment complex.

Major Anzell M. Harris of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said Deputy J. Morales conducted a traffic stop around 1:30 a.m. The driver was later identified as Paris Savon Gatling, 34, of Weldon.

Morales stopped her for a brake light violation on Julian R. Allsbrook Highway near Old Farm Road.

She stopped in a fast food parking lot but then fled in the vehicle. The short chase ended in the apartment complex parking lot.

Gatling was arrested and charged with fleeing to elude arrest, DWI, driving while license revoked, careless and reckless driving and brake light violation.

Due to her pending court cases she was jailed without the opportunity for bond. She has a September 26 Halifax County District Court date for those charges.

On December 18 she has a district court date for a number of charges including hit and run-leaving the scene; failing to report an accident; an impairment revocation; and wanton disregard.

On September 23 she has a superior court date for two counts of obtaining property by false pretense; second-degree trespassing; and a probation violation.

On November 14 she has a superior court date for obtaining property by false pretense and second-degree trespassing.
