A man wanted in a 2023 sex offense case was returned to Halifax County from Georgia Wednesday to face charges.

Roanoke Rapids police Chief Shane Guyant said Matthew LeBlanc was transported to the county by detectives N. Bankert and S. Bryant. He was jailed on a $500,000 secured bond and awaits a June 27 district court date.

LeBlanc, who was living in Georgia, surrendered to the Nahunta Police Department in Brunswick County early last week.

He faces charges of statutory sex offense with a child and crimes against nature.

The police department received a report of the reputed offenses last July. The offenses were alleged to have occurred in June of last of year and involved a person LeBlanc was familiar with who was less than 16 at the time, Guyant said.

LeBlanc waived extradition.
