An early morning traffic stop led to the seizure of a small amount of powdered cocaine and the arrest of a Roanoke Rapids man who was previously arrested in November.
The stop for a headlight violation occurred around 3 a.m. on Zoo Road South, according to a statement from Major Scott Hall of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office.
Corporal Matt Brown and Deputy Brian Biggerstaff found Kehaad Cornelious Hawkins driving on a revoked license and could reportedly smell marijuana coming from the vehicle.
Biggerstaff located a small amount of cocaine in the vehicle and arrested Hawkins for driving while license revoked and felony possession of cocaine.
He was given a $3,000 bond and has a February 12 court date.
