A Hollister man was charged today in the beating of his girlfriend Wednesday, according to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.
A warrant filed by Detective M. Hasty alleges that Deon Lynch, 40, strangled the victim in the presence of a 9-year-old child and left red marks on her neck when he grabbed her by the throat and lifted her off the ground. The warrant also says the victim was left with multiple facial lacerations, multiple broken facial bones, and lacerations on her right arm.

Major Anzell Harris said the victim sustained a cervical spinal injury.
On Wednesday, detectives responded to UNC Nash after receiving information that a woman had entered the hospital with severe injuries. Warrants were obtained, and deputies, detectives, and members of the Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force attempted to locate Lynch at numerous locations throughout the county.
Members of the HCSO Criminal Investigations Division, along with the Nash County Sheriff's Office Criminal Apprehension Team, located and arrested Lynch in Battleboro.
Lynch was confined to the Halifax County Detention Center on charges of felony assault inflicting serious injury, felony assault by strangulation, misdemeanor assault in the presence of a minor, and misdemeanor domestic violence. Lynch is being held without the opportunity for bond and has a July 23 district court date.
