Patterson smokestack felled

City school board announces Patterson plans

The Roanoke Rapids Board of Education moved forward tonight on plans to develop a comprehensive athletic complex behind Roanoke Rapids High School.

Overall, 75 percent of the schools in the in the Roanoke Rapids Graded School District met or exceeded academic growth for 2013-14 and all schools exhibited improvement.

The Roanoke Rapids Board of Education approved several personnel changes this evening for the 2014-15 academic year including a new principal at Chaloner Middle School, athletic director, and coach at Roanoke Rapids High School.

A $58 million school improvement bond referendum could be on the November 4 ballot following further deliberation by Halifax County commissioners.

The Roanoke Rapids High School Class of 2014 was awarded more than $1 million in scholarships today during the school's annual senior awards banquet.
