The sale price of the land is $747,000.
School system spokesman Les Atkins said the land being sold to the credit union fronts Tenth Street across from Discount Tire. The land that was sold is expected to be used to build a new branch.
The proceeds from the sale will be used to eventually develop a track and practice football field, as well as six tennis courts on the remaining portion of the land.
A soccer field would be built behind Belmont Elementary School.
While the school board requested them this evening, there are no formal plans as of yet for the athletic complex. Plans are expected in the coming months.
