The decision to hire Lee, former Roanoke Rapids city manager and a former part time administrator for the town, came after a brief closed session at the town board meeting.
“Welcome back,” Mayor Julia Meacham said following the decision. “We’re excited and delighted. She brings a lot to the table.”
Lee, who oversaw the crafting of this fiscal year’s budget for the town, told the board she was excited about being back and said she would be liaison between the town and its citizens. “Any issues citizens have they can come to me first.”
Lee told rrspin.com following the meeting she chose to apply because she knew the town had difficulties finding an administrator and re-advertised the position. “I was looking for something to do and really wanted to go back to work.”
The new town administrator said she enjoyed her part time job when she was hired to oversee the budget process. “I like the people very much. They’re very energetic and anxious to get things going in the right direction. I’m excited about the opportunity to help them build something new.”
