Jackets beat Bears at Doyle field

The Roanoke Rapids High School Yellow Jackets Varsity Baseball team scored a 6-5 non-conference win over the Hertford County Bears on Wednesday night at Doyle Field.

Tyler Shearin picked up the win on the mound pitching six plus strong innings giving up 5 runs.  Colby Warren picked up the save by closing out the game in the 7th inning.  

Post game comments from Jackets Coach Mark Snead, "This was a good win for our team.  Tyler pitched really well for us and Colby did a great job closing out the win.  We hit the ball well, but kept hitting it right at them.  We finally strung some hits together in the last 2 at-bats to put multiple runs on the board.  After getting down early, the guys stuck with it, pulled together, and rallied for the win.  I am proud of the team tonight."

With the win, RRHS improves to 7-2 overall on the season.  The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Friday when they host Southern Vance.  Game time is set for 6pm.
