Deryck Devon Bennett of Doe Lane in Garysburg was originally charged late last year, Lieutenant A. Thomas of the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office said.
A Northampton County grand jury this month found probable cause to charge with him possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and sell and deliver a controlled substance near a public park.
Bennett is currently awaiting a first court appearance in Nash County on March 27 for robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon, according to state court records.
He awaits an April 24 court appearance in Northampton County on the drug charges.
The Northampton County charges stem from investigations based on complaints in the Garysburg community around the Highway 301 corridor, Thomas said in the statement.
The arrest is also a continuation of Operation First Wave, an effort between the sheriff’s office and Down East Drug Task Force where agents reportedly made controlled buys from Bennett.
The Garysburg Police Department assisted in the investigation.
“The Northampton County Sheriff’s Office will continue to collectively work with outside agencies as well as agencies within the county of Northampton,” Sheriff Jack Smith said in the statement. “In order to achieve a common goal and to preserve and ensure the quality of life for the citizens of Northampton County we all have to share and work together to reach this goal.”
