Seven RRHS school swim records broken

At the regional swim meet, Roanoke Rapids High School swim team had 7 school records broken!! 

The girls medley of Abbey Acree, Kendall Qualls, Amy Fromal, and Kristy Price started it off to finish 9th and qualify for states, and were immediately followed by a school record breaking performance by the guys 200 Medley Relay of Doug Glasgow, Alex Leard, AJ Hoscila, and Hunter Hargrave that also qualified for states. 

In the 200 freestyle, Karalee Miller swam to an in season best time and a 18th place finish.  

In the women's 50 free, Kristy Price smashed her own 50 free record of 26.62, by swimming a 25.12 and winning ALL REGIONAL HONORS, by placing 3rd in the region! (first in girls history- as far back as online records show- 15 years)

In the event right after that, Hunter Hargrave swam to a 9th place state qualifying time of 22.90 and AJ Hoscila swam to lifetime best of 22.21, which is a new school record, which ALSO EARNED ALL REGIONAL HONORS of 3rd place (first in 10 years).

In the 100 free, Kristy Price again broke her own school record and qualified for states with a 57.14, finishing 6th in the conference.

In the 100 fly, AJ Hoscila broke his school record with a blistering 56.43, which lead him to finish 4th in the region! Doug Glasgow also swam to a lifetime best 1:04, which qualified him for states as well!

In the 200 guys 200 free relay, the quartet of Hunter Hargrave, Jordan Walker, Garrett Tant, and AJ Hoscila roared back to take 3rd place, ANOTHER ALL REGIONAL HONOR status (first ever relay to receive these honors- again as long as online records show) and break the school record with a state qualifying 1:34.74.

In the men's 100 back, Doug Glasgow broke his own school record with a 1:01.25 in a very competitive field. (missed states by one spot)

In the women's 100 breast, Amy Fromal dropped 4 seconds and swam to a lifetime best of 1:18.29 (missed states by one spot)

In the girls 400 freestyle relay, the quartet of Cierra Thompson, Karalee Miller, Abbey Acree, and Karalee Miller swam to a state qualifying time of 4:22.71.

"It was a wonderful meet and a product of all of the hard work the kids put in over the season," stated RRHS swim coach Patrick Quast. 

Several members of the RRHS swim team are attending the 1A/2A State Meet on Thursday and look to improve upon their previous times!
