A Thursday night domestic call in which shots were fired into the air and a woman was assaulted has the Roanoke Rapids Police Department looking for a 35-year-old man.

Chief Shane Guyant said warrants have been obtained for the arrest of Mychal Iquan Bynum for assault on a female, assault by pointing a gun, going armed to the terror of the people and discharging a weapon in the city limits.

Bynum is from Roanoke Rapids and as of this report has not been apprehended. Guyant said he was last seen armed with a handgun and should be considered armed and dangerous.

The warrants stem from a call around 11 p.m. in the 700 block of Wood Street that shots were being fired.

Officers located several witnesses and a victim. They determined an altercation between family members turned physical. A man later identified as Bynum reportedly got a handgun and fired numerous rounds into the air.

Lieutenant M. Hunsucker obtained the warrants.

Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Bynum is encouraged to contact the police department at 252-533-2810, Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444, or its website
