Youth baseball Major League opening night action

Opening Day for the RRYBA Major League was Tuesday Night and saw the Grasshoppers defeat the Rockhounds in an exciting close game 5-4.

Pitching, in the victory, for the Grasshoppers was Nate Riggs.  Riggs went all five innings and recorded 12 strikeouts and only 4 walks.  The Rockhounds pitched Ryan Hayes (with 6 strikeouts), Christian Russell (with 1 strikeout), and Jake Merritt (with 4 strikeouts).

 

Leading the way offensively for the Grasshoppers was also Riggs, who posted 2 hits, followed by Wade Jenkins and Wesley Boerner with one hit each.  Riggs scored twice with Boerner, Carter Pair, and Bradley Mosely each scoring one each.

 

Offensively the Rockhounds were led by Colin Clements with 2 hits, followed by Jacob Edenbeck and Dylan Vick with one each.  Hayden Garner, Edenbeck, and Vick all scored in the game.
