Third try is a charm for Benefit Alumni softball game.

After two previous dates rain outs and the threat of rain Saturday, the rains held off. It was a night of fellowship, reunion and a great time on the softball field to raise money for Holt Gordon, who lost his mother Lisa Whitby this past June.

The threat of rain and the date change held a few players and fans back, but it still was a great night of softball and old stories. Fourteen graduates and one current Lady Vikings played seven innings of slow pitch softball. The two teams were split and were coached by Steve Hamill, Mark Harris and Rabbit Long.

In the end Coach Long's team had 10 runs to Coach Hamill's team two runs. And a lot od sore young ladies. It was all smiles and laughter all night.

As the organizer (Randy Wrenn), and on behalf of Holt, his father and Aunt Marcia Gordon we would like to thank each & everyone who had a part & donated. Thanks to Halifax Academy Board of Trustees and Lisa Crawley, Athletic Director Teresa Long, Coach Steve Hamill and his hours on the field, Mark Harris, Rabbit Long. The help at the field Phillip Milan, Mike Lucas, Cliff Rose, Sam Conner, Angie Conner, Janie Rose, Karl Spillane, umpire Torey Vincent. Myself of RRspin.com Sports & Troy Smith of TD Sports screen-printing for the game t-shirts. And special thanks to the girls who returned to play and help raise funds for Holt: Ashley Brown, Hayley Heath, Toni Spillane, Danielle Long, Drew Rose, Ashley Sawyer, Jessie Long, Brittney Hamill, Courtnee Wood, Hanna Clary, Mer Stephenson, Emily Conner, Michelle Garriss, Meredith Harris and Hayley Wood.
