Eatman said he appreciated the board's confidence in appointing him to the position. As a lifelong resident of Roanoke Rapids, I hold a high regard for the proud educational tradition that has long distinguished our community. I hope to help promote the capacity for higher and continued education available at our community college as an important part of that tradition."
The Halifax County, Weldon and Roanoke Rapids school systems play a role in finding and appointing people to the college's board of trustees.
The school districts have four appointments they make, each appointing one and one chosen at-large by the districts.
Eatman is studying agricultural science at NCSU.
