First, we incorrectly reported on the Roanoke Rapids Graded School District Board of Education race.
That portion of the story should have read as follows:
Roanoke Rapids Graded School District trustee Mike Williams along with Joey Briggs, John Grimes and Ed Liverman will be vying for three seats on the board. Incumbents Mike Salanik and Mary-Frances Fisher did not file for re-election.
In the portion on the Weldon town board race the story should have read as follows:
Incumbent Commissioner Franklin D. Williams is joined by former Mayor Johnny Draper, Charlotte Moss, Nancy Sandoval, John W. “Prime” Smith and Reailyn Stanback in a race to fill two seats on the town commission.
While the error was due in part to incomplete information we requested from the board of elections office Friday, it was our duty to thoroughly follow up on the information.
