Amanda Jean Henley Ponton, 30, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 in her home, after a two year battle with cancer.

Mrs. Ponton was born on November 5, 1993, in Rocky Mount, NC, the daughter of Valerie Hales Henley and Terry Wayne Henley.

Amanda was not just a devoted mother, a caring CNA, and a passionate dancer.

Each of these roles reflected her immense heart and spirit.

As a CNA, she dedicated her life to caring for others.  Her patients often became like family to her.

Dance was another passion that brought her joy.  She started when she was two years old and danced for over 18 years at Givens Dance Studio.

She then taught dance at Tiffany’s Dance Studio where she shared her passion for dance with her own children and many others.

Above all, she cherished her role as a mother.  Her children were the center of her universe. She nurtured them with the same love and care she gave her patients, always encouraging them to dream big and be kind.  The bond she created with them is something that will never fade.  Amanda was also a member of Quankie Baptist Church.

Surviving along with her parents, include her husband Givontae DeShawn Ponton, her children:  Nevaeh Hope Robinson, Kaydence Gabrielle Robinson, Carsyn Marie Ponton, and Isaiah DeShawn Ponton, her sister Magen Elizabeth Henley (Erik), her “Gran Gran” Janice Hux Hales, her mother-in-law Glenda Yvonne Majette (Clarence), her father-in-law Giovonni Harrell (Byrd), and many other extended family members.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Amanda's Children's college fund in care of Valerie Henley.

A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, October 19, 2024, in Quankie Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Boyd officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 – 2:30 PM prior to the service.
