Roy Earl Hockaday, 88, of Roanoke Rapids passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2019, at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Roy was born June 6, 1931, in Halifax County to the late Wreford Hockaday and Mamie Hicks Hockaday.

Roy was an old time hot rodder from way back. He loved hot rods and fast cars and always had one.

In his younger days he farmed with his brother and father. In later years he worked with JP Stevens, where he retired. After retiring he worked on his cars.

Roy was the best friend anyone could want, he would do anything for you. When you saw Roy in later years, you saw David. Roy loved going to Oscars. Roy was one fine man, no better, he loved his friends and they loved him. He will be well loved and missed.

Roy is survived by his best friends, David Pepper and Michael Wiley.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, December 19, 2019 in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service with Rev. Sue Owens officiating.
