Virginia Vaughan Leake, 92, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Northampton Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Virginia was born January 13, 1927, in Halifax County to the late Will Vaughan and Della Colson Vaughan. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Claude Leake; and nine brothers and sisters.

Virginia was the oldest living member of Harvest Temple Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she taught Sunday School and was secretary of the Women’s Auxiliary for twenty-six years. She enjoyed going to ECU ballgames. 

Virginia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved people and playing bingo.

Virginia is survived by her children, Russell Leake and his wife Joyce, Margaret Holloway and her husband Danny both of Roanoke Rapids and Tom Leake and his wife Barbara of Greenville; eight grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren; her extended family, Doug Herrin and Cindy Draper and family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 23, 2019 at Harvest Temple Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Norwood Starling officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:30 P.M. at the church prior to the service and other times at the home of her daughter, Margaret. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Cemetery.
