William Mack Howell, 93, died Sunday, December 8, 2019, in his Roanoke Rapids home.
Mack was born in Northampton County on November 16, 1926, to Rufus B. Howell, Sr and Carrie Belle Long Howell.
He was the long time herdsman for the cattle stock at Caledonia Prison. Mack was a member of Rosemary Baptist Church, and a US Army veteran.
He is survived by two daughters, B. Kay Rogers of Indian Land, SC, and Linda Howell of Roanoke Rapids; step-sons, James S. Rogers and Dennis W. Rogers; brother, Glenn Howell (Elouise) of Pfafftown; sister, Edna Martin (Glenn) of Milwaukee; 14 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
Mack was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mildred C. Howell; son, William Mack “Bill” Howell, Jr.,; 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service.
The funeral service will be held from the graveside at Cedarwood Cemetery at 2:00 pm Thursday, December 12, 2019, with Dr. Layne Wallace presiding.
