Doris Harris Strickland, 73, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026 in her home.   

Ms. Strickland was born on September 28, 1952 in Roanoke Rapids, the daughter of the late Doris Ellen Gregory and Jesse Franklin Harris.  She was also preceded in death by her high school sweetheart and husband for nearly 50 years, Frankie Odell Strickland and her loving son Jamie Douglas Strickland.

Surviving include her son Anthony “Tony” Strickland and his wife Wendy, her granddaughter Halyn Jean Strickland and her mom Brooke Lynn Tell, her sister Donna Mosley, and her live-in caregiver Debra Poston. 

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service with Reverend Sammy D. Webb of First Church of Deliverance in Roanoke Rapids officiating.  

Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Cemetery.  

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service.
