Larry Spencer Jones, 85, of Roanoke Rapids passed away Thursday, February 20, 2025, at his daughter’s home.  

Larry was born January 5, 1940, in Durham County to the late Harold Spencer Jones and Margaret Smith Jones.  

He was also preceded in death by his wife of 24 years Rebecca “Becky” Jones, his son, Larry Spencer Jones II and his brother Marvin Allen “Al” Jones.  

Larry was a great father, a pillar of strength, a man of immense humor and a beacon of love.  He taught his family many life lessons, such as, the importance of hard work, respect, discipline, kindness and most importantly about God’s love and faith.  

He was a man of wisdom and intelligence who always had an answer.  He was a good listener and had great patience.  

He was very artistic; he had a love for drawing and had a fascination for all things historical.  

He loved hanging with his brothers (best friends) traveling to find the best hotdog places.  Never a dull moment when they were together.  

He could be seen driving around Roanoke Rapids with his beloved dog Buddy and he also showed much love to his grand dogs Diva and Mia.  

Larry served in the United States Air Force as Airman First Class for four years and he loved his Country.  

He will be forever missed and never forgotten. 

Larry is survived by his daughters, Beverly Twisdale (Ernest) and Beth Collins (George); his special companion Buddy; his brother Phillip Jones (Elyse); his grandchildren, Brandy Davis (Marcus), Dustin Jones, Ashley Bellamy (Brad), Hunter Bartolini (Daniel), Jake Twisdale (Stephanie), and Jordan Collins (Emilee); his great-grandchildren, Hayley Shaw, Jerzee Bellamy, Bryson Davis, Presley Bellamy, and Jonah Twisdale.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service with Rev. Jeremy Kobernat​​​ officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
