Ruth Inez Futrell, 81, of Weldon, NC passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.

She was born in Halifax County on August 14, 1942 to the late James Willie Ivey and Ruby Leggett Ivey and was preceded in death by her husband, John Futrell, her two sons, Lawrence Scott Davis and Darrin Keith Davis and her brother, James Willey Ivey, Jr.

Inez loved her family, her dogs and cats and loved to read. She was a member of Weldon Baptist Church and later Woodland Baptist Church of Woodland, NC where she sang in the choir. She also volunteered with the Woodland Rescue Squad with her husband, John.

Inez is survived by her sisters, Margo Smith McElheney, and her husband, Charles of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Angel Ivey Whitby and her husband, Andy of Weldon, NC; her nephew, Ashley Lee Smith; nieces, Erin Earl and her husband, Mike, Kelly Ivey, Leslie Ivey and Tammie Raby Smith and her husband, David as well as several great nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Askew Funeral Cremation Services with Rev. Jimmy King officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
