Nellie Mae Brewer White, 91, of Gibson, NC, changed her address when God Called her home on Wednesday, September 25, 2019.

Born November 15, 1927, in Roanoke Rapids, NC, she was the daughter of the late Zola and Emma Askew Brewer, and the wife of the late Jesse P. White. 

Mrs. White was a lifetime member of Rosemary Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids and attended Laurel Hill Baptist Church in Laurel Hill, NC since 2005.

She was a former L.P.N. nurse at the old Roanoke Rapids Hospital and a breast cancer survivor. 

She was a former member of the Roanoke Rapids Senior Citizens Club and their Hootenanny Band. 

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. White was preceded in death by one infant brother, J.C., one infant sister, Juanita, one infant great- grandson, Cody Tippett, one infant great-granddaughter, Ivy Tippett, and son-in-law, Shelton Tippett.

Mrs. White is survived by three daughters, Barbara Tippett of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Joyce Sprague and husband, Walter, of Orrtanna, PA, and Tammy Sumner and husband, Richard, of Gibson, NC; six grandchildren, Anthony Tippett and his fiancée, Krickett Crews, Robert Tippett and wife, Christina, Christy Tippett Lyles and husband, Travis, Shannon Sprague Winter and husband, Scott, Kimberly Sprague Arnold and husband, J.P. and Robin Sumner Jackson and husband, Troy; fourteen great-grandchildren, four step great-grandchildren, and two great-great-granddaughters.

The family will receive friends at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services  Friday, October 4, 2019, from 6:30- 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Askew Funeral and Cremation Services on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 11:00 am with Revs. Robert Wayne White, Don Malpass and Dr Bane Angles officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Old Cedarwood Cemetery.
