David Millikin Dickens 88, of Roanoke Rapids died Tuesday November 6, 2012.

Mr. Dickens, a native of Halifax County, was the son of the late Lonnie Gordon and Mollie Millikin Dickens.

Mr. Dickens  graduated from Weldon High School and was retired as assistant Post Master at the US Postal Service, Weldon office, after 30 years of service. After retiring from the Post Office he was manager of the Chockoyotte Country club for several years.

Mr. Dickens is survived by his wife, Catherine “Sis” Merchant Dickens, his son Paul Haydon Dickens, his daughter Mollie Ann Dickens Grill of Skytop, PA, his grand daughter Hannah Catherine Grill of Stamford, Conn., his brother Robert G. Dickens of Cheraw, SC, his sister-in-laws Paula L Merchant of Chapel Hill and Pearl Dickens of Roanoke Rapids.

The family will receive friends Thursday, November 8, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Askew Funeral and Cremation services in Roanoke Rapids.

There will be a private burial service.
