A 29-year-old Roanoke Rapids man Wednesday was charged with a count of solicitation of a minor by computer following an investigation that began in April.

Major Anzell M. Harris of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said the criminal investigations division received a report on April 15 about a man, later identified as Taylor Scott Harris, contacting a female juvenile for sexual favors.

Five search warrants were granted as Detective G. Watkins led an investigation into the matter.

An arrest warrant for Taylor Harris was obtained Monday.

Major Harris said search warrants were issued for a multitude of social media platforms where it was suspected more solicitations would be located.

There was also a search warrant conducted on a residence with the assistance of the Nash County Sheriff’s Office and Homeland Security investigations.

Major Harris said this is an ongoing investigation, and more charges may be filed.

Taylor Harris received a $15,000 bond and September 4 district court date.
