A Roanoke Rapids man was charged this morning after officers found him in the area of Old Farm Road and White Motors.

Roanoke Rapids police Chief Bobby Martin said officers J. Way and N. Powell were in the area shortly after 12:15 a.m. doing checks in the wake of catalytic converter thefts.

They encountered a man later identified as Dustin Hodgdon. The man fled from the officers.

He was apprehended by Lieutenant J. Baggett in the area of Devonshire Circle.

Martin said it was not clear why the 36-year-old Hodgdon was in the area.

On August 26 he and his girlfriend had been charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officers investigated that case after receiving a notification from OnStar. The vehicle was stolen from the Grandy area.

Hodgdon, who gave an address of Jewel Street, had recently been released from the Halifax County Detention Center on the August charges, Martin said.

After doing a background check on the man the officers learned he was also wanted in Illinois.

Hodgdon was charged with resist, delay and obstruct and was also served a fugitive warrant.

He received a total bond of $75,500. He has a district court appearance Friday.
