This weekend's Dylan Moore Days will benefit Bella Berman, who is battling leukemia and the family of Lisa Whitby, who recently lost her battle to the disease.
Since 2010, the annual event to remember Dylan Moore has raised more than $43,000 for local families going through a medical crisis.
Dylan was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder in 2004 known as Fanconi Anemia and died on July 26, 2009. The event is held during his birthday weekend.
The event will be held at the 4-H Horse and Livestock Complex on Highway 903 outside Halifax.
The schedule is as follows:
Saturday
8 a.m.-10:30 a.m. — trail ride/poker run registration
10 a.m. -10:30 a.m. — trail ride begins
Noon -1 p.m. — lunch stop on trail
4 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. — trail ride ends
4 p.m. - 6 p.m. — dinner is served
6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. — live auction
Dark to 8:30 p.m. — candlelight luminary service
8:30 p.m. - 11 p.m. — dance
Sunday
8 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. — breakfast
8:30 a.m. — horse show registration begins
9:30 a.m. — cowboy church
10 a.m. — horse show begins
11 a.m. - 2 p.m. — barbecue plates served
Events beginning around noon include a Dylan trivia contest; balloon release; birthday cake and contest winners announced.
1 p.m. — cornhole tournament
A Chinese auction will be held after the horse show Sunday.
