A Scotland Neck man already out on bond for for possession of a firearm by a felon and carrying a concealed weapon was charged with the same counts Friday after a traffic stop.

Major Scott Hall of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that around 9:30 p.m. Deputy Steven Casey stopped a 1993 Chevrolet Caprice at East Eighth Street in Scotland Neck for a registration violation.

Terrace Lloyd, 23, was a passenger in the vehicle and was reportedly found to be in possession of a 9mm.

Deputy Mike Casey and Scotland Neck Police Officer C.E. Exum assisted in the stop.

He was jailed without the opportunity for bond because of the previous charge. He has a July 16 court date.
