A Roanoke Rapids was arrested for cocaine possession as well as allegedly having painkillers and paraphernalia typically associated with heroin use Saturday.
Deputy S.G. Page of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office stopped a man identified as Eric Shane Lassiter, 25, following a stop for a seatbelt violation around 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Bolling Road and Pinecrest Avenue, according to a news release from Major Scott Hall.
During a search of the vehicle, Page allegedly found a bag that contained a cocaine grinder, a half gram of powdered cocaine, 13 Percocet pills, a water bottle, syringes and hypodermic needles, a spoon, scissors and cotton swabs. The last five items are typically associated with heroin use, although no heroin was discovered, Hall said this afternoon.
Lassiter faces charges of possession of cocaine, possession of schedule II, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was jailed on $10,000 secured bond, and awaits an April 23 court date.
