Roanoke Rapids police are investigating a shooting that occurred on Carter Street where the victim was shot in the right knee and right buttocks.

Police were dispatched to Church Street, one street over from Carter Street, shortly after 10:45 Saturday night where the victim, a 29-year-old Roanoke Rapids man, told them he was shot.

Police believe the man was shot with a small-caliber handgun.

Police declined to release further information as the case remains under the investigation.

The victim did not sustain any life-threatening injuries and was treated.
