Zaxby's, a national chicken restaurant chain, has filed site plans to build in Roanoke Rapids.

According to the plans filed in the city's planning and development department, the restaurant anticipates final construction by August.

The restaurant will be built between the BP Station and Waffle House on what was the site of the old Marathon Station on Julian R. Allsbrook Highway, which is commonly known in the city as the Race Track station.

Plans call for a 72-seat restaurant in a 3,652 square-feet building. Plans call for a drive-through. The restaurant will be built on .77 acres of land.
