The theft of around $200 in hotel supplies that included towels has resulted in the arrest of a Weldon man.

John Isaac Smith, 51, faces charges of larceny by employee and possession of stolen goods.

Detective O.L. Wiltsie of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said investigation began at the end of June when a Roanoke Rapids hotel filed a larceny report.

Investigation led to leads that eventually identified Smith.

He was jailed on $5,000 bond and has a December 5 court date.

Items stolen included towels and other supplies associated with the operation of a hotel, Wiltsie said.
