Prentis Crossen, who was charged in numerous local robberies, pled guilty Monday to most of the crimes he committed in Halifax County and will serve 12 to 18 years in prison.

Crossen, of Garysburg, pled guilty to two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, four counts of common law robbery, one count of breaking and entering and one count of common law robbery.

He was sentenced in Halifax County Superior Court.

Halifax County District Attorney Melissa Pelfrey the charges reflect crimes Crossen committed in Halifax County with the exception of a Weldon case.

He also faces similar charges in Northampton County.

The two Roanoke Rapids robberies, include one on February 12 in which cigarettes were taken and the robbery of the BP station on Julian Allsbrook Highway in which money was demanded.

Crossen also faces charges in the armed robbery of the Family Dollar in Weldon, an attempted armed robbery count when he tried to allegedly rob the clerk, who froze and a charge of armed robbery for allegedly stealing cash from a customer after the clerk froze.

Crossen, 19 at the time, was also charged in the September 12 armed robbery of the Blue Flame, as well as the May 13 robbery of the Blue Flame.
