A 54-year-old Roanoke Rapids man has been charged in an April 30 stabbing that has left the victim in the hospital since the fight.
Detective J. Sealey of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office charged Ricky Wilson Clements Saturday with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
Sealey charged Clements based on investigation of a stabbing call in the Zoo Road area of Roanoke Rapids.
Clements and Raymond Mitchell Spence got into an argument that led to a fight in which Clements allegedly stabbed Spence numerous times with a knife. Spence used a stick to try to fight Clements off.
Deputy J.M. Clark found one man laying in the yard with blood on him.
The deputy also discovered another man laying on the porch, also with blood on him.
Clements was jailed on $80,000 bond and has a May 16 court date.
Spence remains in stable condition at an undisclosed hospital.
