Family members informed Davie Volunteer Fire Department Chief David Padgette that a man severely burned in a fire Thursday night has died.
Jasper Adams, who was in his 60s, was burned severely enough he had to be transported to a burn center, the Halifax County Sheriff''s Office confirmed Friday.
Adams was initially transported to Halifax Regional Medical Center but was then transported to a burn center.
Padgette said it appeared the man may have tried to start a fire in wood stove with a flammable liquid.
The house on Godley Street sustained minimal damage.
The fire department received the call shortly after 6:30 p.m. and firefighters were on the scene for about an hour.
