The man injured by fire Thursday night in Lincoln Heights had burns severe enough he had to be transported to a burn center, the Halifax County Sheriff's Office confirmed this afternoon.

The man, Jasper Adams, was initially transported to Halifax Regional Medical Center but was then transported to a burn center.

Davie Volunteer Fire Department Chief David Padgette said it appeared the man may have tried to start a fire in wood stov with a flammable liquid.

The house on Godley Street sustained minimal damage.

The fire department received the call shortly after 6:30 p.m. and firefighters were on the scene for about an hour.
