The Halifax County Sheriff's Office is seeking information on the theft of a transformer that was stolen from an electric power substation off Three Bridges Road outside Roanoke Rapids.

Major Bruce Temple said the sheriff's office has alerted scrap yards of the theft because investigators believe it was stolen for the purpose to sell.

Temple said the person or persons responsible for stealing the equipment had to cut a fence to gain access.

It is believed the transformer was stolen sometime between February 2 and Wednesday.
