Operation Summer Heat 2010 has officially ended and Roanoke Rapids Police Jeff Hinton is pleased with the results.
The operation was a joint effort with the Roanoke Rapids Advanced Criminal Enforcement Unit, Narcotics Unit and Detective Division working along with patrol units to identify target areas in town and take corrective action, Hinton said. “The target areas were identified based on call history, citizen complaints and patrol observations.”
There were a total of 51 arrests made for Summer Heat which included 53 drug violations. The total violations and charges for the summer campaign are 290. “We feel that we have made a significant impact in our targeted areas and we encourage all citizens to continue their efforts on community watches and reporting problems to the police,” Hinton said.
