An Enfield man remains in the Halifax County Detention Center without bond after he was charged Tuesday afternoon with attempted murder and other related counts following a domestic call.

Warrants filed by the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office against Dondre Coleman, 28, allege he discharged a firearm into the victim’s vehicle while she was inside. The warrants further state that he struck the victim in the face with a closed fist and that her vehicle sustained more than $200 in damage during the commission of the crime.

Major Anzell Harris said deputies responded to the call in the White Oak Road area around 2:30 p.m. Harris said deputies were met by the victim, who told them that Coleman, who lived at the residence, had assaulted her and then attempted to shoot her as she tried to flee.

While deputies were speaking with the victim, Coleman returned to the residence and was taken into custody by Sergeant C. Sherrod.

He faces charges of attempted murder, assault on a female, shooting into an occupied vehicle, injury to personal property, and assault with a deadly weapon. Coleman has a December 19 district court date.

Deputy R. Chin, retired Major M. Casey, and North Carolina State Highway Patrol Trooper D.J. Brake assisted.
