A gunshot victim was listed in stable condition this evening after a shooting in the parking lot of the Walmart Shopping Center off Premier Boulevard.

Captain Harold Phillips of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department said he could not say whether the man shot was the intended victim of the shooting, which occurred shortly before 5:15 this evening.

In a statement he said the victim was transported to ECU North for treatment.

It is currently unknown how many shooters were involved and investigators are collecting evidence.
