First Citizens Bank in Roanoke Rapids has donated $20,000 to support student success at Halifax Community College.
“As a longstanding advocate of education and community progress, First Citizens Bank has made a significant contribution that will benefit HCC's mission to provide excellent education and enhance the student experience,” the college said.
The donation, received during the college’s National Day of Giving campaign, arrives at a crucial moment for HCC as it endeavors to continuously enhance its programs, facilities, and student support services.
The funds will be allocated to the First Citizens Bank scholarship, which helps students excel academically and prepares them for success in their future endeavors by eliminating financial obstacles that may hinder their academic journey.
"We sincerely thank First Citizens Bank for their generous contribution. This donation will greatly benefit our students and support their academic excellence at HCC," said Jennifer Jones, executive director of the Halifax Community College Foundation.
Kenny Deloatch, senior vice president of First Citizens Bank, said, "I believe in the transformative power of education and its ability to shape individuals and communities. HCC is doing exceptional work, and First Citizens Bank is honored to contribute to their success."
HCC President Patrena Elliott thanked Deloatch and First Citizens Bank for their continued commitment to students. "Our college was elated to receive this donation during HCC's National Day of Giving. A single act has the potential to transform lives."
